Dusseldorf, Germany – At K2022, Ossberger GmbH is displaying the latest version of its Pressblower blow moulding machine: producing automotive parts based on elastomers materials from Huntsman.

The Pressblower SB2-260 is described as “a brand new injection blow moulder designed to produce gaiters for air springs for the automotive industry.”

To demonstrate its precision moulding capabilities, Ossberger to produce the components from Huntsman’s Irogran A 92 E 4860 thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).

The gaiters, which have a net weight of about 150 grammes, can be produced within a cycle time of 27 seconds, according to a Huntsman release about the K2022 exhibit.

Boots and bellows produced on Ossberger’s Pressblower machines are used in around 90% of automotive vehicles worldwide, the materials supplier noted.

The Irogran TPU, it noted, is a polyester-based elastomer designed for use in thick- and thin-walled parts, thick-walled profiles, pneumatic tubes and film and sheet products.

Features are said to include high melt stability and ease of processing for shorter cycle times, excellent wear performance., lightweight and high resistance to dynamic stress, abrasion and grease.
