I can’t deny the practicality of a crossbody bag in my everyday wardrobe. It not only keeps me handsfree during my commute, but pairs seamlessly with jeans and a striped jumper or a sleek midi dress and knee high boots. Khaite’s Adeline bag is one that is elegant and timeless, which I’ve recently added to my closet and cannot stop carrying on repeat. I also have my eye on Totême’s T-Lock bag, it’s next up on my wishlist for an everyday bag!

It feels like it’s almost impossible to find a chic backpack. But, of course, Khaite found a way to combine everyday functionality with undeniable sophistication.
I love a bag with a bit of history—especially if that history has something to do with my favorite fashion era: the 1950s. This gorgeous crossbody Gucci bag is dubbed the Horsebit 1955 so there’s nothing not to like. It’s classic while not out-dated and finishes off every look with a bit of Gucci glitz.

After many years of wearing only mini and small-sized bags, I’ve finally upgraded to something that’s more substantial in size. I’ll admit, I scored this perfect-sized Loewe shoulder bag off The RealReal, and it’s quickly become my everyday carry. When I want something with a bit more structure, I’ll grab Wandler’s Penelope bag.

I got this Tory Burch tote as a college graduation gift about two years ago, and it’s been my go-to work bag ever since. There’s enough room to store my laptop, planner, and notebook in the side compartments, and the middle pocket normally holds my wallet, keys, water bottle, and some snacks. Plus, the color matches perfectly with basically any outfit—no matter the season.

Back to business as usual calls for a practical bag! As our post-pandemic lives return to normalcy and five-day in office weeks become the standard again, I find myself reverting back to the trusty tote. Demellier’s New York bag makes for a chic commute into the city, while Rothy’s lightweight tote is ideal for hauling my laptop and work essentials.

Big bags are trending this fall but I still prefer mine to be tiny. If I have an oversized bag, I tend to stuff it with a ton of useless stuff and I’d rather not lug around a huge bag. This Marge Sherwood bag fits only your essentials like my iPhone Pro Max, wallet, keys, and lipgloss.
Basket bags are seasonless for me and I especially love the woven ones from Dragon Diffusion, which all come in unique shapes and leathers that age beautifully. The Santa Croce, in a yummy chocolate brown, is a year-round favorite for its versatility—it works as well with a black winter coat as it does with a pretty white sundress—and is just right size to carry essentials. It doesn't quite fit a laptop for work, but that's what my Nantucket is for!
The Luar Brooke tote may actually be the most perfect everyday bag. It easily fits a laptop or even a change of clothes (or heels) and the signature round handle makes you look chic even when you’ve stuffed it with far more items than it was designed for (though of course as we’ve seen in the runways recently, a spilling-out bag is the new cool thing). The best part about it are its two inside pockets and magnetic closure, which makes it a truly elevated version of a standard leather carry-all.

While in town for Paris fashion week, I saw my friend and colleague Sophia sporting this zebra bag from Rouje. I was immediately smitten and had a love-at-first-sight shopping experience. She told me it was her latest happy purchase, and she could even fit her work laptop in it—say less: I walked to the Rouje store the next day to get my own bag. It’s the perfect bag for daily day-to-night use, and I don’t even have to take out my laptop if I’m running straight from Vogue to a party!

When it comes to work bags, I prefer the non-traditional route. Not only does my Prada backpack perfectly fit my laptop and other essentials for easy commuting, but it looks chic doing it. Not to mention, it also makes the ideal designer travel bag—no heavy lifting!

I’ve been using this leather Mansur Gavriel tote as my work bag every day. It’s extremely roomy and can fit just about anything I need throughout the day. But, more importantly, it’s super sleek and always makes an outfit feel polished. I’ve gotten lots of compliments from strangers on it—worth the investment.

I am constantly having to lug things from work to home (forever a bag lady). I love how this tote from Nanushka can fit so much while remaining incredibly chic! The white stitching against the black leather is my favorite touch.

Staud’s Bean Bag is currently my favorite wear-with-anything handbag. It’s the perfect size to carry my essentials (phone, card holder, lip gloss, and hand sanitizer!), offers a detachable strap to carry as a clutch or over-the-shoulder, and is embellishment-free so I don’t have to worry about it clashing with other accessories. It’s become a closet staple, to say the least.

I rely on a Mary Poppins tote to get me through the day. I love this Chloé Edith bag because it’s big but easy to carry. I’ve had mine for a little while now, and the leather wears in super nicely, so it looks better and better with time (and isn’t too precious!).

I have this in solid navy, very chic. It has an attached keychain, which is very helpful. And Rothy’s has repurposed more than 493,000 pounds of ocean-bound marine plastic, by using it to knit their bags and other accessories. Kudos.
