Sneakers and slip-ons are our preferred form of footwear when it comes to traveling, but sometimes — especially if you’re traveling on business — you just don’t have the convenience of going casual. For those unfortunate trips when dress shoes are the only option, Paul Smith designed a pair that looks the part but feels like your favorite pair of sneakers.

The key to this was making the shoes both soft and lightweight. For that, Smith constructed the upper from a naturally soft vegetable-tanned leather that was kept unlined to reduce weight. They’re then tumbled and washed to give them a worn-in feel fresh from the box. Further, the soft sole features extra padding under the ball of the foot to provide additional comfort when dashing through the airport to make your flight (or to tell that special someone how you feel seconds before they board the plane).
